Karl Marx

Karl Heinreich Marx was born in Trier, Rhenish Prussia (Germany) on May 5 1818. He is the son of Heinreich Marx and Henriette Preburg Marx, who were both descendants of a long line of rabbis. Marx married his childhood sweetheart Jenny von Westphalen on June 19 1843, and had 7 children but, 4 died during their childhood. His wife died at the age of 67 on December 2, 1881 due to cancer. He achieved his first huge success was during the Russian Revolution, where Vladmir Lenin became the new leader and the lower class overthrew the upper class. This was important to Marx since, Lenin was one of the strongest believers in Marxism and based off the new government on Marx’s theories.

His Ideas:

  • The understanding of the relationship between institutions and moral principles.
  • He has 2 basic opinions:
  1. The economic system that is occurring at any given time determines the current beliefs and ideas the people will have.
  2. History is continuous keeping up with the economic institutions that repeatedly change.
  • The main message was a real-life paradise of a classless society.
