Paul de Man

Paul de Man was born on December 6, 1919 in Antwerp, Belgium and died on December deman221, 1983 at 64 years old in New Haven, Connecticut. In the mid 1960s Paul met and befriended Jacques Derrida, where together they developed the concept of deconstructionism. It was the first form of literary analysis that aimed to show the cracks that exist in all texts, and indicates that if examined closely all literary works contradict itself. This approach towards literacy later on influenced other academic disciplines of law, anthropology, architecture, and theology.

J. Hills Miller

Joseph Hills Miller was born on March 5, 1928 in Newport News, Virginia. He is an j-hillis-miller-1-sizedAmerican literary critic who was important in connecting North American criticism with Continental philosophical thought. Miller was initially associated with the Geneva Group of critics but, later on in 1970 he joined a group of deconstructionists at Yale University.
